Seaway Restaurant was opened by owner Otto Schuler in July 1972, after the Seaway Inn was evicted from its Jefferson Street location. This space had formerly been occupied by the Knight Owl Restaurant, which had been advertising from October 1971 to January 1972, but by mid-1972 the building had been listed as "city owned".
