Red Corvette Nightclub

Milwaukee

Summary

The Red Corvette was a straight bar on South Kinnickinnic Avenue that, from about 1976 to 1979, welcomed gay and lesbian patrons on Sunday "gay nights." As disco grew, the downtown Park Avenue bar overtook it as the area's leading dance venue. The business briefly reopened as MacArthur Park Disco Lounge around June 1979 and again attempted to court the gay community with Sunday nights in 1997, but neither effort succeeded. The bar closed and its building was demolished in 1998 or 1999.
