Biography
Jim Dorn opened Your Place, one of Milwaukee's first openly gay bars, in 1965 with his partner Jerry Bentley. A former Navy sailor, he chose the bar's discreet name so patrons could make plans without revealing where they were going. Known affectionately as "Mother Dorn," he was remembered for providing a safe haven for generations of young gay men.
