Biography
Clarence Germershausen, known in the community as "John Clayton," founded the Milwaukee gay bar C'est La Vie in 1974 and operated it for many years. During the 1980s he became a prominent figure in the city's gay nightlife, leasing nearby space to community organizations. He died in September 2005.
