Pink Glove

Milwaukee

Summary

Pink Glove was an exceptionally short-lived Milwaukee gay bar at 631 N. Broadway, open for just 67 days in 1958. Opened by Marvin and Harold Klein in a remodeled former cocktail lounge, it is believed to be one of the city's first bars to deliberately market itself to the gay community, and contributors recalled Black and white patrons mingling openly there. The bar drew immediate business but also police attention and reported pressure from organized-crime figures.

Facing repeated raids, it closed on October 25, 1958, and its license was surrendered the following month.
