Loose Ends

Milwaukee

Summary

Loose Ends opened in February 1986 on Fond du Lac Avenue on Milwaukee's north-central side, in a space formerly known as Gloria's Place. Opened by Karen, Harry, and Loren Buettner, it drew a steady mixed crowd of area residents and was one of the few gay bars located that far west in the city. The bar had no dance floor but offered a well-stocked jukebox, games, and food service, and its annual Corn Roast with live music was especially popular.

A patron, William Edwards, was fatally shot during an attempted armed robbery inside the bar in June 1992. Later that year the business was purchased by new owner Jean Stellick. Loose Ends disappeared from bar listings after late 1995 and apparently closed quietly, with the location next occupied by the 10% Club.
